In a landscape where venture firms in the United States invest over $130 billion annually, the organization highlights the alarming fact that Black investors have historically been excluded from accessing this capital. Currently, Black individuals represent only 3% of venture capital investors, with a mere 2% serving as partners—those responsible for making vital investment decisions.
While there has been some incremental progress towards inclusivity in the venture capital sector in recent years, BLCK VC recognizes that much work remains to be done. The organization is determined to catalyze change by working to transform venture capital into an inclusive engine for progress and generational wealth creation. One of their key aspirations is to double the percentage of Black investors and partners within venture capital to 6% and 4%, respectively, by the year 2024. Through their initiatives, BLCK VC aims to create a more equitable and representative venture capital industry, ultimately reflecting the rich diversity of the nation.
